Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paint Protection Spray (PPS)?

PPS is a peelable paint that looks and performs like automotive paint.  It is applied in a paint booth and it cures to a flawless finish that can be polished and can be removed without residue.  As it dries it forms an adhesive-free bond to the surface and wraps itself around the edges, achieving superior leveling and preventing the orange peel effect.

Why would I choose Paint Protection Spray (PPS) over Paint Protection Film (PPF) or Vinyl?

PPS delivers a seamless, paint-like finish with full color-change flexibility and durable protection against chips and scratches. Applied like traditional paint, it offers virtually unlimited OEM and custom color options—and can be peeled away whenever you’re ready to return to your original paint or switch colors again. No seams. No film edges. Just a flawless finish.

So there will be no edges on my car?

Correct! As opposed to traditional PPF or Vinyl where the product is applied to your car and cut to fit, PPS is a paint and is sprayed on so there are no cut lines. Flawless appearance with no seams or film lines.

Is PPS safe for my factory paint?

Yes, it is designed to go over OEM paint without harming it. When removed correctly, it peels away as a single film and leaves the original finish intact.

Is PPS thicker than PPF?

Stronger than vinyl and tougher than traditional PPF, it offers enhanced protection against UV exposure, rock chips, and chemical contaminants. For added durability, increased thickness options are available to deliver even greater protection where it matters most.

Is PPS self-healing?

The top coat features self-healing properties that help eliminate light wash marks and micro-scratches. When exposed to heat or hot water, many fine imperfections diminish or disappear. Deeper scratches can often be corrected through sanding and polishing, provided sufficient clear thickness remains.

Can PPS be polished, waxed, or ceramic coated?

Yes. Once cured, it can be sanded, polished, waxed, and even ceramic coated just like a traditional clear coat. For best results, allow about 30 days before applying waxes or ceramic coatings.

What color options are available?

The options are endless—OEM factory colors, solid tones, pearls, metallics, Ultra Shift color-changing effects, and one-off custom mixes. If you can imagine it, we can create it.

Can I get my car in a matte finish?

Yes! We offer satin, gloss or matte finishes making it totally customizable.

Does PPS hide defects in the paint?

It will fully hide light swirls and wash marks and significantly soften the look of many moderate defects. Very deep scratches and rock chips can still be faintly visible under the film, so severe damage may require repair first for a perfect finish.

Can I just apply clear PPS to the front end or specific panels?

Yes, clear PPS can be applied to the full vehicle, front end, or individual panels. Full coverage offers the most uniform finish and protection, but partial packages are also available.

Can I put PPS on my wheels and brake calipers?

Yes, it provides both color and protection for high-heat, high-impact areas.

Can I spray clear PPS on headlights?

Yes, however some headlight manufacturers will void warranties if anything is applied to the lens.

How long does a typical installation take?

Installation time can vary depending on the size of your vehicle, the color you choose, and the level of coverage. Most full-vehicle color changes are completed in 3–5 days, and we’ll walk you through the timeline before we begin so there are no surprises.

How do I maintain PPS?

Care is simple—wash it just like normal paint. Avoid harsh abrasives and always use proper wash tools and techniques. Once the coating has fully cured, you can enhance the finish with wax or ceramic coatings.

Can I take my car through the car wash?

You sure can! This product can be washed, sanded and polished like any OEM paint.

How is PPS different then repainting my car?

A traditional respray is permanent, requiring extensive preparation to existing paint. PPS delivers the depth, gloss, and durability of a premium clear coat—while remaining fully removable. It provides long-term protection with the freedom to transform or restore your vehicle’s finish whenever you choose.

How difficult is it to remove?

It peels off seamlessly without leaving any residue.

Will you paint my jams?

Door jambs and trunk jambs can be refinished with the doors in place, or you can upgrade to full door removal for maximum coverage and a more comprehensive finish. Every project is fully customizable to match your vision, level of detail, and budget.
